A FLASH OF BLUE

Maria Farrer

Amber took her brother’s lucky charm on the day he died and blames herself for what happened. A year later, she’s still feeling responsible for his death, and for other bad things that have happened to her family, but nothing else weighs as heavy on her. The guilt is always there. Everything changed after that day. The loss struck everyone around her in different ways and Amber feels alone. Then she meets someone who understands…
This was a really touching story about love, secrets, guilt, and courage. About taking a wrong turn, but finding the way back again. A string of bad decisions leads Amber down a path that frightens her, but that’s what it takes for her to step back and see things for what they are. She’s strong and brave and I liked seeing her discover that part of herself. The characters felt very real, all with both positive and negative sides breaking through, making me change my mind over who I liked and who I didn’t with each chapter. It was terrifying at times, heart-breaking at others, and I enjoyed it a lot.
